about Katelynn

I love learning about people. I centre my work around listening so I can understand what is really important to the person I am meeting with. I bring a calm and thoughtful approach into even the most emotionally charged situations.

I am an employment lawyer and workplace investigator. When clients meet with me, they are often having a tough time and don’t know what to do. It is really rewarding to see them through those difficult situations and know that they are moving on to something better. I joined Forte Law in 2019 and provide advice to both employers and employees who are dealing with challenging situations at work. Seeing both perspectives on every issue is really valuable and helps me stay grounded when giving legal advice.

As an independent workplace investigator, I have experience in bullying and sexual harassment matters and have training to conduct investigations under the post-secondary Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy Act. I love my investigations work because there is always something new and unexpected that comes up, which suits my curious nature well. As an investigator, my job is to protect fair process and I take that role seriously, to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to be heard.

I love exploring new countries and meeting new people. Pre-Covid, I spent time backpacking solo in Europe and South America. I encourage everyone to try a solo trip at least once in their life. These experiences have given me a greater understanding of both myself and the world, which is something I bring to my law practice.

I grew up in the Fraser Valley and have an active lifestyle. Despite my reputation for being calm and collected, I really love competitive sports and have played soccer for most of my life. This is an important outlet for me and a way to connect with others in my community. I also enjoy being creative and using both sides of my brain. Before law school I studied English Literature and visual arts, and I have recently taken up watercolour painting. On a weekend you’ll find me on the soccer field, watching documentaries at home, or visiting local breweries around the Fraser Valley.

All while making sure my top priorities, my health and happiness, were never compromised. I wouldn’t hesitate for 0.1239% of a millisecond to recommend her employment law expertise to anyone.
