about Richard

“Navigating the shifting landscape of occupational health, labour and employment law is a puzzle I truly enjoy solving. I am dedicated to finding the practical answers required to resolve workplace challenges quickly and get my clients back to what they do best."

I have been practicing workplace law since summering with WorkSafeBC in 2012 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2014. Before joining Forte Workplace Law in 2026, I worked with a leading national firm, where I represented employers across the energy, technology, natural resource, and trade sectors.

My practice is built on a foundation of strong advocacy. I have extensive experience representing clients in high-stakes environments, including labour arbitrations and complex workers’ compensation matters. My background also includes advising on critical occupational health and safety (OHS) issues, where I help clients navigate rigorous regulatory requirements and investigations.

While I prioritize practical advice to resolve workplace friction before it escalates, I am a seasoned negotiator and advocate. I have a track record of securing settlements that align with my clients’ best interests and representing my clients’ positions in formal legal proceedings when a strategic resolution is not possible. I have focused on delivering effective representation that protects my clients interests and their reputation.

Outside of the office, I spend my time exploring the British Columbia outdoors. I am an avid hiker, skier, and camper, and I enjoy finding paddling opportunities during the summer months.
