about Harmit
My sense of purpose comes from solving my clients’ problems and helping them achieve their goals. As my client’s trusted counsel, I take a compassionate, practical, and reasoned approach. My clients’ best interests always come first.
After receiving my JD degree from the University of Saskatchewan, I began my legal career practicing corporate, commercial, and immigration law. Prior to graduating, I worked during the summer at a non-profit legal organization that assists migrant workers with employment-related issues.
I have been a long-time admirer of Forte Workplace Law, and it is a pleasure to work with a team that shares my goal of promoting fairness in the workplace.
I take a practical and logical approach to my work. It is also important for me to communicate with kindness and understanding, as I recognize that my clients are often going through stressful situations at work. I take great pleasure in fostering trusting relationships with my clients.
I am active in the legal community, and I am a firm believer in promoting access to justice. As a board member and volunteer lawyer at the South Asian Legal Clinic of B.C. (SALCBC), I work collaboratively with other board members to empower the South Asian community with legal knowledge. I am also privileged to volunteer with Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR), an organization that promotes human rights through education, research, and advocacy. A large part of CLAIHR’s work involves intervening in court proceedings in which questions of international human rights law are being considered.
Outside of the office, I enjoy going for walks in my neighbourhood and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops. On sunny days, you can often find me on a tennis court.

I used Forte Workplace Law to draft an employment agreement. I am also a lawyer and was very impressed with the level of service and the quality of legal work Forte delivered. Harmit Sarai was excellent.

Harmit was very professional and knowledgeable, we had a great experience working with her.
– Alex Y.
Harmit was great to work with on many levels: first, she gave great advice; second, she considered my views in making her recommendations; third, she communicated clearly and followed up giving status updates regularly; finally, Harmit worked quickly and in the middle of the holiday season to meet very tight deadlines. Thank you for your thoughtful, researched and thorough advice!

It was a relief to have someone to share their knowledge and experience in a matter that was new and stressful for myself. Harmit was able to answer all of my questions and assist with my decisions. She was honest and approachable through every conversation and I would not hesitate to reach out to her again or required.
