about Jaspreet
During law school, I served as a Student Director with the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers BC (FACL BC), which felt especially meaningful to me as someone who immigrated to Canada from Malaysia. I also served as Vice President of Finance for the UVic Business Law Association and volunteered with The Consent Project, presenting legal education to high school students on topics like consent and bodily autonomy. Further, I worked as a 911 operator for various municipal police departments. This experience taught me how to stay calm under pressure, communicate with compassion, and think clearly – skills that continue to guide my approach in the legal field today.
After my second year of law school, I joined a major health authority as a Summer Law Student, where I assisted with mediations, arbitrations, and legal research on employment matters across a large and diverse organization.
Before law school, I majored in Criminology with a minor in Education – Curriculum & Instruction, and a Certificate in Legal Studies. During that time, I worked as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and First Aid trainer, supporting people in vulnerable situations and helping them feel safe and confident. I also coached soccer with Special Olympics BC and basketball with the Steve Nash Youth Basketball Program – experiences that strengthened my passion for mentorship and community connection.
I chose Forte Workplace Law because of the people. From my very first conversation with the team, I felt a genuine sense of warmth, inclusion, and collaboration. Forte Workplace Law is a firm where connection truly matters – not just with clients, but within the team.
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends – whether here in BC or back in Malaysia visiting my grandmother and family. I’m always trying new recipes, rewatching my favourite comedies, and finding any excuse to be near any body of water.
